Welcome Message

Professor Incharge“A Library of any Academic Institution is considered its heart.” University Library was established in March 1970. In 1979, it was shifted to the present building of five storeyed, inverted pyramid shaped magnificent building, directly visible from the main gate of University on the grand trunk road. It is a marvel and masterpiece of architecture - surrounded by teaching departments all around. The library was named after Bhai Gurdas Ji, who had proud privilege to take dictation of holy verses from Fifth Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji while compilation of Adi Granth Sahib. The Library is committed to provide modern, technology- enabled services to its users. Library operations are fully automated through the KOHA Library Management System with RFID-enabled circulation and online public access catalogue (OPAC) facility and Security services, ensuring efficient management of resources and user-friendly access. The Library also provides access to a wide range of e-resources and online databases, a dedicated digital learning space, and a 24×7 air-conditioned reading hall for 363 days except Republic Day and Independence Day. All library sections are under CCTV surveillance for effective monitoring and student's safety. These facilities ensure seamless access to information and effectively support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the University community. Our library offers a rich collection of resources, including rare manuscripts, a wide range of printed books, e-journals, databases and e-books. These digital resources can be accessed anytime and anywhere within gndu campus and regional campuses. As Professor Incharge, Bhai Gurdas Library, I encourage all students, faculty members, and researchers to make full use of the Library's resources and services. We welcome your valuable feedback and suggestions to help us serve you better. The Library is committed to provide right information to the right person at the right time.
